Music DeliveryMigration from PrestaShop to Shopify for a professional catalog
A complex project for a professional eCommerce of audio, video, lighting and special effects: over twelve years of history to migrate, tens of thousands of references, orders and customers to preserve, and commercial features to rebuild on Shopify.
The project at a glance
- 12+ yearsPrestaShop history to transfer and make consistent in the new ecosystem.
- Tens of thousandsProducts and references in a highly articulated technical catalog.
- Complete migrationProducts, customers, orders, categories and relationships between data.
- Custom developmentFeatures, views, automations and integrations needed by the project.
Starting point
Music Delivery operates in professional audio, video, lighting and special effects equipment, and alongside sales offers consulting, design and installation services. The move from PrestaShop to Shopify came from the need to reduce maintenance complexity without losing the history accumulated over the years.
The new ecosystem had to support a very large technical catalog, financing and installment payments, operational rental, ERP integrations and an experience suited both to the professional and to the customer who needs advice.
Migrating data without losing their meaning
The main difficulty was not simply importing the products, but keeping the relationships between customers, orders and historical references consistent and bringing the features the business needs back to Shopify.
The project also required rethinking pages, navigation and interfaces to make a professional catalog more manageable, ranging from mixers, microphones and audio interfaces to lights, video and special effects.
From PrestaShop to Shopify
The change was not a simple platform switch: it required preserving the useful history and redesigning how data, features and operations coexist in the store.
An ecosystem that had become hard to develop
- Over twelve years of history to preserve
- Updates and maintenance had become complex
- Technical and data tracking problems
- Features accumulated over time to be rebuilt
- Very large catalog, numerous variants and integrations
A more manageable foundation, without losing the necessary complexity
- History migrated and relationships between customers, orders and products rebuilt
- New theme and Shopify interfaces
- Custom solutions for catalog, display and processes
- Installment payments, integrations and automations
- Tracking restored and ongoing technical support
The work
Data migration
Transfer of catalog, customers, orders and the store's information structure.
New Shopify theme
Design of the interfaces and rebuilding of the navigation experience on the new stack.
Complex catalog
Management of numerous variants, technical information and different display needs.
Payments and financing
Implementation of the logic needed for installment payments and financial solutions.
Integrations and automations
Connection with ERP systems and the automations needed by operational processes.
Tracking
Review of data collection after the tracking problems present in the previous ecosystem.
The result
Music Delivery now has a Shopify store that integrates a very extensive professional catalog with consulting services, financing, operational rental and content dedicated to projects and installations. The move also made it possible to restore the data tracking that had shown problems in the previous ecosystem.
The relationship continues after the launch: Francesco Guiducci stays in touch with the team for technical needs, optimizations and development of the store.
A complex migration told by the client as well
Music Delivery's public feedback on the Shopify Partners Directory mentions the rebuilding of the ecosystem, the migration of over twelve years of PrestaShop history and the work on the new Shopify theme. It is a representative project of the IFG combination of migration, web design, custom development and ongoing support.
No client financial data is published, nor commercial results attributed to a single intervention.
