A new Shopify site for an online haircare and beauty store with a very large catalog, followed by a Technical Partner service: data cleanup, catalog SEO and GEO, purchase path checks and accessibility.

## The project at a glance

- **Built from scratch**: New Shopify site for a haircare and beauty store.
- **3,735 products**: Categories and metafields of the whole catalog reread and cleaned up.
- **519 collections**: SEO titles, meta descriptions, product types and vendors fixed together with the products.
- **Technical Partner**: Ongoing annual maintenance, currently active.

## Starting point

Look4Hair is an online haircare and beauty store with a very large catalog: hair, body and face products, make up, nails, perfumes and sun care. Francesco Guiducci built the new site on Shopify and follows the project as Technical Partner.

The service is an ongoing annual maintenance, currently active. With a catalog of this size, data quality matters as much as design: categories, metafields and SEO text have to be consistent across thousands of product pages.

## Keeping a catalog of thousands of products in order

With 3,735 products and 519 collections, every inconsistency is multiplied: missing categories, empty product types, and uncared-for SEO titles and meta descriptions make the catalog harder to manage internally and harder for search engines to read.

The work is carried out in a test environment, without changing the published theme until each change has been approved.

## From a catalog to clean up to consistent data

On Look4Hair the Technical Partner work started from the catalogue data and the purchase paths, not from a new look: first the information base (categories, metafields, SEO titles, product types and vendors), then the checks from the customer side.

- Before: Missing categories on part of the products
- Before: Metafields to check
- Before: SEO titles and meta descriptions to fix
- Before: Product types and vendors not always filled in
- After: Missing categories brought down to zero
- After: SEO titles and meta descriptions fixed on products and collections
- After: Product types and vendors filled in
- After: Redirect map for the 31 legacy paths

## The work

- **Categories and metafields**: Rereading of the 3,735 products in the catalog and cleanup of categories and metafields.
- **Catalog SEO and GEO**: SEO titles, meta descriptions, product types and vendors across 3,735 products and 519 collections.
- **Purchase paths**: Customer-side checks of the home page, slideshow, collections, product pages, search, cart, quick view, zoom, wishlist and availability filter.
- **Accessibility**: ARIA labels, removal of an empty heading and a close label for the drawer.
- **Technical analysis**: Study of a conflict between the cart drawer and a third-party integration.
- **Redirects**: Mapping of redirects from the old URLs, 31 legacy paths.

## The result

The Look4Hair catalog is now more consistent: missing categories have been brought down to zero and products and collections have SEO titles, meta descriptions, product types and vendors filled in.

The main purchase paths have been checked from the customer side and the accessibility fixes are part of the maintenance work. Changes stay in a test environment until approved, before touching the published theme.

## The value lies in continuity on the details

A large catalog is kept in shape with regular checks rather than a single intervention. The Technical Partner relationship makes it possible to return to the data, the purchase paths and the integrations with the context already known.

## Have a very large Shopify catalog?

Data cleanup, catalog SEO and technical checks can be followed continuously by a single point of reference. For a conversation, a direct contact by WhatsApp, email or phone is enough.
